The Emergency Medical Services Education Program is offered through the Continuing Education Division of Johnston Community College.
Johnston Community College is located in Smithfield North Carolina. Smithfield is located just off Interstate 95 and approximately 30 minutes from Raleigh. The area is fortunate to have access to medical facilities and teaching institutions such as Duke University, University of North Carolina, East Carolina University and Wake Medical Center.
The EMS Education Program offers initial training programs at the Medical Responder through Paramedic certification levels as an approved Advanced Education Institution through the North Carolina office of EMS. National Registry Prep and Refresher classes are offered for on-site National registry exams.
All continuing education requirement for Johnston County EMS personnel and met through the JCC EMS Education Program.
This program also serves as a Training Center for both American Heart Association courses such as CPR, ACLS and PALS.
Johnston Community College serves as a training site for NAEMT courses such as Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support and Advanced Medical Life Support. The Program Director, Susan Crisp, serves as the NC state PHTLS Coordinator.
As a program proud to participate in the initial and continuing education of emergency medical services providers, we look forward to enhancing the care to the community through our partnership with the Cleveland Clinic EMS Academy. We look forward to long relationship with Cleveland Clinic and increasing percentages of critical care and FP-C certified providers serving the area in a variety of care settings.
